The Paramus School District has in effect an Instant Alert system for our schools that is extremely beneficial for emergency notifications and communication.
Within minutes of an emergency, school officials can use Instant Alert to deliver a single, clear message the students’ parents or guardians by telephone, cell phone, e-mail, pager, or PDA in any combination. The system can be used to notify you of a school closing, delayed opening, or early closing and schedule changes necessary.
You have the ability to manage your own Instant Alert profile. Initially, the system database contains the contact telephone number as listed on our student database file. Maintaining the accuracy of your profile will increase the ability of the school to keep you informed. This system is internet‑based, allowing each family to maintain a secure, password-protected online profile.
Your online profile will enable you to:
· Input and update your personal contact information
· Add additional contact information (caretakers, grandparents, etc.)
· Select the type of school information you would like to receive, such as:
- Emergency Only (emergency closings and notifications, important information)
- General (upcoming events, school activities, etc.)
- E-mail Only (email notification system for general use)
This system is ready for you to access. We urge you to be sure that you have at least two emergency telephone numbers listed under the “ Emergency Only ” category. You should have one evening telephone number in the event of an early morning school closing, and one daytime telephone number in the event of an early school closing during the day.
