The over 120 faculty and staff members are well educated and have dedicated their professional careers to working with high school students. The curriculum is rich, broad and varied in content, degree of challenge and discipline focus. The faculty is aware of and well trained in the implementation of the core curriculum standards.
For the past decade, over 90% of our Paramus graduates have gone on to pursue a degree in post-secondary education. The general focus of our educational programs has been to prepare our students for life after high school, which means college and other pursuits. As we have moved into the 21 st Century, we have focused on the question of how to prepare our students for a future that is becoming more and more difficult to predict.
Paramus High School strives to be on the cutting edge of instructional innovation. Staff development focuses on the implementation of the state core curriculum content standards and the best ways to implement them in instruction at all levels. We have integrated technology into all aspects of the curriculum. Every classroom setting is equipped with at least one computer that is connected to local and wide area networks with the capability of utilizing high-speed voice, video and data communications. Five fully equipped computer labs supplement the classroom technology. Students in grade 9 are required to enroll in a course that requires them to demonstrate competency in public speaking, study skills, essential computer applications, research techniques and communication skills. The guidance program is coordinated with this course to expand students’ career searches and help them transition to the high school.
It is our goal that students who receive a diploma from Paramus High School will graduate confident in their ability to learn and with the knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes that will enable them to lead productive and fulfilling lives in a complex and rapidly changing society. Our district mission is to develop all students as open-minded, life-long learners who pursue their dreams and add value to the world. |
