We learned about the Roving Robots that scientists on Earth have sent to explore the Red Planet, Mars. Spirit and Opportunity have been working on Mars for seven years. Scientists have discovered all kinds of important information about Mars -- there might even be water! We are getting ready to send up an even bigger Rover, named Curiosity.
Books and Beyond 2009 - 2010 Dive Into Reading : Titanic
We learned about the famous passenger ship Titanic which sank in 1912. In 1985, Dr. Robert Ballard and his team of scientists discovered it sitting on the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean. Two experts from the International Titanic Society came to Memorial School and talked to us about their research. One of them has even been down to see the Titanic in Alvin, the submarine!
