| Author visits Thanks to our generous PTA, we have famous authors and artists visit us every year! 2011 Emily Jenkins told us how she gets ideas for her books like That New Animal, Skunkdog, and her Toys Go Out series. She even interviewed Invisible Inkling once!
Patrick O'Brien showed us how his books Gigantic, Captain Raptor, Saber Tooth, and You Are the First Kid on Mars are made. He told us how finding a prehistoric megaladon tooth gave him the inspiration to write Megatooth, a book about a prehistoric shark that makes the Great White look puny!
Nick Bruel shared with us how he comes up with characters like Bad Kitty. He reminded us to take ourselves seriously as writers and to give ourselves quiet time to just THINK. He was just a little boy when he invented Melvin Bubble!
2010
We had fun drawing with Laurie Keller . We learned how to make some of her characters, like Arnie the Doughnut, all those teeth, and those polite otters!
2009
Jon Agee talked to us about how he comes up with ideas for his stories, like Terrific, The Retired Kid, and his book of palindromes, Go Hang a Salami, I'm a Lasagne Hog! Two questions he always asks himself are "What If...?" and "What Next...?"
